How Leadership Transforms Lives!

The 15th batch of Rotary District 3080 Leadership Academy started its 3-days Residential Workshop at Hotel Shivalikview, Chandigarh, on 29th morning.

Past Rotary International President, Rajendra K Saboo, who conceived the idea of leadership academy, has been transforming the lives of Rotarians for the last 15 years that comprises of six Rotary lessons through correspondence, culminating with a purely management and leadership lessons.

The workshop is conducted by corporate trainers and professionals, and the team of trainers include professional coaches Inderjeet Kaur, and Navneet Sandhu, while the third day session on Sunday will culminate with Suditi Jindal, who is an author, life coach, and corporate trainer too.

District Governor David Hilton recalled his Academy's experience three years back that "transformed my life and helped me discover my potential".

Past RI President Raja Saboo stressed that this training workshop is designed purely to enhance your leadership qualities to help you succeed in your business, your profession, and your life.

Living in our own protected ways, the Academy, Raja Saboo stated, is a magic potion that removes those protection layers of hesitations, and instills a high-level of self-confidence to take any challenge in life.

"The Academy shall remove those protective layers we build around ourselves, to allow you to reach out, touch the word with your positivity and goodness all around," he affirmed.

Past Rotary International Director Yash Pal Das underlined the various facets of leadership and how in the entire corporate world, the people are being trained for new skills at a very high cost whereas thanks to the corporate trainers who take their time out to interact with you, and deliver the high-value knowledge for you to take advantage of.

The Dean of Academy PDG Major Som Dutt apprised everyone with the rules and regulations of participating in the Academy Workshop, while PDG Shaju Peter, Associate Dean, conducted the proceedings of the inaugural function.

PDG Madhukar Malhotra and PDG Manpreet Gandhiok also were present at the inaugural, besides the organising team, including Academy Administrator PP Rtn. B.L. Ramsisaria, PP Baldev Aggarwal, PP Praveen Goyal, PP CP Kaushal, PP Charanjit Singh.

The 13th batch of the Rotary District 3080 Leadership Academy started yesterday at Hotel Ashoka Regenta.
Fifteen Rotarians who are also undergoing the initiation into the functioning of Rotary and its various programmes, through the correspondence course, decided to spend three days to sharpen their axe of leadership. 
Everyone is a leader. All of us are in Rotary because of our being the leaders in our respective professions. And three-day residential workshop that the visionary Past Rotary International President Rajendra K. Saboo conceived, opened with his inspirational remarks: "These three days would make you feel an undisputed urge to open up and interact with each other, and make you better professional, a better communicator, a better leader, and a better person," he said.  This surely will help you stand out in your life, your own vocation and profession, and in your community, he added.

Past RI Director Yash Pal Das, remarked that Academy would bring about improvement in your personality as well as help you adapt to the growing needs of Rotary in managing humanitarian projects in your community.  District Leadership Academy shall help you sharpen your axe.

District Governor Rakesh Aggarwal complimented the participating Rotarians, and the Dean of the Academy PDG Major Som Dutt, Asociate Dean PDG Shaju Peter, and the DLA team, as well as the faculty.
Two young professional management trainers, Ms Inderjit Kaur and Ms Navneet Sandhu conducted the two days session and interacted intensely with the participants with completely packed schedule of knowledge sharing, interactions, role playing, etc. 


DAY 2
The second-day morning of course started at 6:30am on the pool side of the hotel, where Pankaj Yogi, himself a Rotarian, and a well known yoga teacher, conducted yoga class.  "Starting the morning with yoga is most refreshing for the mind and I feel ready for the day," remarked one of the participants, Rtn. Baljeet Chawla.

The Day 2 session concluded with a cultural evening with participants showcasing their talent, while PRIP Raja Saboo conducted the antakshri in which the participants, the spouses of invited Rotarians including past RI officers, enthusiastically sang their favourite songs.

DAY 3
The last day of the Academy had Mr. Vijay Chopra, another management trainer from New Delhi, gave a lessons in life-balance, preparing for success, and ethical way of living.

The Academy concluded with very encouraging feedback from the participants and useful suggestions, with standing ovation by participants.

Col. VJS Vohra of Chandigarh Midtown, summed up the three-days at the Academy by saying, "The first two days helped us learn how to interact with others, and the last day helped us to interact with our own self."
