Learn, Grow, Lead

This is the credo of Rotary District 3080 Leadership Academy.  It prepares you to be more successful, capable, joyous, and in control of your life.

Beginning with an open-book correspondence course on Rotary, which comprises of 6 lessons only, on 1st of October, it culminates with a three days most exciting and meaningful residential workshop in one of the hotels in/around Chandigarh.

This year, the workshop will be held in the heart of the city, Hotel Shivalikview, which would provide a beautiful 360 degree birds' eye view of the city beautiful, from the open terrace, where evening dinners and cultural would be a part of it.

The 13th batch of the Rotary District 3080 Leadership Academy started yesterday at Hotel Ashoka Regenta.
Fifteen Rotarians who are also undergoing the initiation into the functioning of Rotary and its various programmes, through the correspondence course, decided to spend three days to sharpen their axe of leadership. 

Everyone is a leader. All of us are in Rotary because of our being the leaders in our respective professions. And three-day residential workshop that the visionary Past Rotary International President Rajendra K. Saboo conceived, opened with his inspirational remarks: "These three days would make you feel an undisputed urge to open up and interact with each other, and make you better professional, a better communicator, a better leader, and a better person," he said.  This surely will help you stand out in your life, your own vocation and profession, and in your community, he added.

Past RI Director Yash Pal Das, remarked that Academy would bring about improvement in your personality as well as help you adapt to the growing needs of Rotary in managing humanitarian projects in your community.  District Leadership Academy shall help you sharpen your axe.

District Governor Rakesh Aggarwal complimented the participating Rotarians, and the Dean of the Academy PDG Major Som Dutt, Asociate Dean PDG Shaju Peter, and the DLA team, as well as the faculty.
Two young professional management trainers, Ms Inderjit Kaur and Ms Navneet Sandhu conducted the two days session and interacted intensely with the participants with completely packed schedule of knowledge sharing, interactions, role playing, etc. 


DAY 2

The second-day morning of course started at 6:30am on the pool side of the hotel, where Pankaj Yogi, himself a Rotarian, and a well known yoga teacher, conducted yoga class.  "Starting the morning with yoga is most refreshing for the mind and I feel ready for the day," remarked one of the participants, Rtn. Baljeet Chawla.

The Day 2 session concluded with a cultural evening with participants showcasing their talent, while PRIP Raja Saboo conducted the antakshri in which the participants, the spouses of invited Rotarians including past RI officers, enthusiastically sang their favourite songs.

DAY 3
The last day of the Academy had Mr. Vijay Chopra, another management trainer from New Delhi, gave a lessons in life-balance, preparing for success, and ethical way of living.

The Academy concluded with very encouraging feedback from the participants and useful suggestions, with standing ovation by participants.

Col. VJS Vohra of Chandigarh Midtown, summed up the three-days at the Academy by saying, "The first two days helped us learn how to interact with others, and the last day helped us to interact with our own self."
